Bummer November 1st
November 1, 1755: The city of Lisbon, Portugal, is devastated by an earthquake, subsequent fires, and a tsunami. Lisbon is Europe's 4th-largest city at the time. It’s estimated that between 12,000 and 50,000 people die as a result. Among the priceless artifacts destroyed in the disaster were navigator Vasco da Gama's records and original paintings by Peter Paul Rubens and Titian.
