An Interview and #Giveaway with Lula Lisbon, Author of 'Cinderella: A BDSM Retelling'

1) Which was your favorite scene to write in Cinderella: A BDSM Retelling?

Undoubtedly it was the scene where Fairy Kink Mother appears and creates her magic! Her imagination, creativity, and humor were a delight. When she reappears at the end, I also really enjoyed that – though I don’t want to spoiler anything. I have to say she was my favorite character to write if only because her earthy haughtiness (if it can be said that such a thing exists) really amused me.

 2) Did you have a favorite Cinderella book or movie when you were younger?

Of course I don’t remember the name of the book or its author, but I had a gorgeously illustrated picture book of fairy tales. I’ve always been enamoured of historical fashions, and I’ve spent quite some time studying fashion in earnest. I pay quite a bit of attention to fashion in my version of Cinderella, and I’d like to think my love of costume shines through.

3) What was it about the Cinderella legend that appealed to you?

I think it’s always been my favorite ever since I was little. Being a natural blonde, plus possessing of an extremely rich imagination my entire life, I could easily close my eyes and imagine being swept away to live ever after as Princess Cinderella. Hey, it’s the original rags-to-riches tale! Who hasn’t at some point? ;)

4) Was this your first fairy tale retelling? Can readers look forward to any more retellings from you in the future?

My first was actually Wolf Moon: Redd’s First Ride, which was rated 5 stars by Hotly Ever After (now merged with Kinky Book Reviews), and earned me an interview at the Wholesome Addiction podcast, episode 32. It is an alternate universe retelling of Red Riding Hood complete with werewolves (I call them weyres in my world), set in a kind of pre-Emancipation America. It is the first of four parts, but eventually it will be expanded and revised to full novel length. I also have plans for a novella length Beauty and the Beast: A BDSM Retelling, and perhaps one or two others.

I adore fantasy, magic, the paranormal, and science fiction, and I plan to incorporate those elements more in the future.

5) If you were making a movie version with your dream cast, who would you get to play Cinderella?

I love Keira Knightly, but I’m not sure how she would look as a blonde. Maybe I’d cast her as either Druscilla or Arabelle, joined by Natalie Portman. The Ravyn stepsisters are sexy, and look alike enough to pass as blood sisters, so I think those two would do nicely. As for Cinderella, I think I’d go with Princess Bride-era Robin Wright. I had a huge crush on her when I was younger, and I think she’d be gorgeous in the part. Kim Cattrall would rock it as Fairy Kink Mother, and I’d love to see Jon Hamm as the long-haired rock star, Kink-Bottom Prince.

6) What can readers expect to look forward to in the Aeternitas: Goddess of Time series?

This is certainly a magnum opus, and I don’t expect to be finished soon. I started it for NaNoWriMo November 2012, and originally it was going to be one book. I’ve expanded the concept to a trilogy, which I imagine in its totality will top 300,000 words.

I’m a knitter, and it took time for me to work my way down from size 8 needles, on which you knit the typical scarf, to size 0’s, on which you knit socks, and I’ve applied that knowledge to writing. The plan now is to work my way up with longer and longer works (at over 21,000 words, Cinderella: A BDSM Retelling is my longest to date) until I’m comfortable with the scope of Aeternitas. I have a couple of novellas and one-off novels planned in the meantime.

Here is the first book of Aeternitas: Goddess of Time, entitled Heart of Ice, in one sentence: “A heartbroken French lesbian flees the Revolution and collides with Philadelphia criminals, while denying feelings for a mystical beauty from the future.” As for what readers can look forward to from the trilogy: time travel, lesbian erotic romance, intrigue, suspense, loss, heartbreak, dreams, magic, criminals, war and uprisings, art and social history, an ancient goddess, and much more. It is something that I would love to read myself, and I hope that others will feel the same.

7) Are you a writer who likes to work in a quiet room, or do like music/movies/TV?

I prefer quiet, although on occasion I like to listen to music. Musically I prefer heavy music and female vocalists, but when writing I need something without vocals, as I get too caught up in listening to be able to concentrate otherwise. I love classical music, Bach and other Baroque composers being a particular favorite, as well as ambient electronic and trip hop. Once in a while vocals won’t bother me, so I’ll get down with some female-fronted symphonic metal bands like Epica, as that style is my favorite genre. I love many genres, but I’m a die-hard metalhead at heart. I give a bit of a nod to the industrial metal scene in Cinderella, and I plan to incorporate my knowledge and love of music further in future projects.

8) What's your current favorite craft beer?

Variety is the spice of life, but a perennial favorite is Unibroue’s La Fin Du Monde, a wonderful bottle-refermented Belgian style golden tripel ale. Another I’ve found that I very much enjoy is Orkney Brewery’s Skullsplitter, a Scotch Ale with a pretty awesome Viking on the label. As for seasonals, I love fall and winter beers for their richness and spiciness, so I’m in love with Southern Tier’s Imperial Pumpking, with its delicious pumpkin pie essence, and Lancaster Brewing’s Winter Warmer, with an amazing holiday spice and dark dried fruits flavor profile. They’re even more special due to seasonal availability.

I could name a few more, but I’ll end it at that for the sake of brevity!

As for wine, I enjoy that too – I love spicy, rich reds most of all; but I know a whole lot more about beer. I’ve been a server (what artistically-temperamented person hasn’t?), and I learned a lot about craft beers both from the bars at which I’ve worked, and from my own explorations through craft beer bars in my home town of Philadelphia, PA. We’re quite proud of our amazing array of available obscure brews. I’d love to brew my own eventually.

9) Finally, where can readers find you if they want to keep up with you online?

BLURB:

Dominas Arabelle and Druscilla Ravyn’s talented apprentice, Cinderella, wants to become a Mistress, but the cruel stepsisters thwart her at every turn. When famous rock star Kink-Bottom Prince is seeking a new Mistress from all those in the City, poor Cinderella doesn’t think she stands a chance. But a kind Fairy Kink Mother magically appears to help Cinderella win her Prince’s collar — and heart.

This 21,000+ word erotic novella contains menage, femdom, a submissive rock star getting fucked in front of his fans, spanking, whipping, magical strap-ons that come to life, pegging, face-sitting, forced feminization and sissification, a self-satisfied Fairy Kink Mother, squirting, fisting, exhibitionism, comedy relief, and much more!

EXCLUSIVE EXCERPT:

“Stand up, let me look at you,” the Fairy said in a no-nonsense yet kindly tone. She circled Cinderella with the critical hawk’s eye of an exclusive haute couture designer, tapping one front tooth with an immaculately manicured fingernail in thought. “Hmm… yes, I believe I have just the thing in mind. We’ll take care of everything all at once. Close your eyes, now.” The Fairy Kink Mother pulled a handful of something out of her bag and blew it gently over Cinderella’s head. A shower of what felt like the softest down feathers swirled around her, caressing every curve of her nude body. When at last the dancing zephyr of feathers stopped, Fairy Kink Mother bade her open her eyes. Cinderella gasped. The pain from her beating was gone, and her skin was now covered in living, gleaming gold that sparkled and shone with even the slightest movement.

“Some Fairy Kink Mothers might let you go just like that, because admittedly you are magnificent as you are. But I didn’t win the prestigious honor of Fairy Kink Mother of the Year six years running from doing only the bare minimum… if you’ll pardon the pun!” She laughed at her own witticism, but Cinderella was too overwhelmed to say a word.

“Oh, my stars, I nearly forgot the most important part!” Again she reached into the ridiculously tiny bag and started to pull out golden straps attached to something. As with the other things, it seemed to start out doll-sized, and then grew to full size bit by bit as she pulled it out. The strangeness of this magic almost made Cinderella dizzy to behold. Now she saw that it was a strap-on harness, with an amazingly life-like cock complete with smooth balls attached. It all gleamed as golden as Cinderella’s skin did now, who accepted the Fairy’s proffered arm as she helped the girl step into the harness. It seemed to tighten by itself to fit Cinderella perfectly, and Fairy Kink Mother beamed with excitement.

“This isn’t any ordinary strap-on, my dear. Oh, no, no! This is so very special, and if I do say so myself, it may just be my most brilliant creation to date!” She caressed the shaft of the cock with one hand, and Cinderella had to bite back a moan of pleasure. She was shocked to realize that it felt as natural and as much a true part of her as if it were her own cock from birth! Just that one simple stroke from Kink Mother’s hand had been deliciously intriguing. “Ah, thus, now you see… when it is worn by you — and only you, I might add, as the magic is limited to one client — it will feel and react as if it were your own natural cock. Because, you see, with the magic, it truly is!” Fairy Kink Mother chortled with delight, clapping her hands like a little girl. “It’s a brilliant creation, isn’t it? Go on, touch it, see for yourself!”

Cinderella reached down to delicately caress the golden cock. It was flaccid, and as warm as her own body to the touch; but when she wrapped her fingers lightly around it, it twitched, and she gasped in delight. Moving her hand, admiring the erotic scene it made to have a cock of her very own, it wasn’t long before it grew to throbbing and rock-hard in her fist. She could feel both her pussy, wet with desire, and the thick cock in her hand dripping with pre-cum. The sensation was dizzying. Fairy Kink Mother swiped at the wet cock-head with one slim fingertip, raised it to her lips, and licked it clean.

“Delicious,” she said, giving Cinderella a saucy wink. “Kink-Bottom Prince will not have eyes — or mouth — for anyone else, I promise you.” Cinderella tugged down the miniskirt over her cock, admiring the bulge it made through the sheer gold fabric.

Lula has been one of my favorite erotic authors from some time. From "Back-Alley Slut" to "3 Girls 1 Pole" - she never disappoints to get a RISE out of me when I read her erotic tales. Her latest book "Cinderella" looks delicious. I recently read "Fifty Shades of Romeo & Juliet" and "Fifty Shades of Alice in Wonderland" and really enjoy reading the classics with an erotic twist. They are so much more interesting than the books we read while in school. I am sure Lula's Cinderella will be arousing if the short snipet she teased me with in this blog is any indication. Well I am off to order my copy. Thanks Lula and keep those creative juices flowing!

Thanks for stopping by, B.D. I really like the erotic versions of the classics, too.
