March Rocks! (Welcome Blogelina Commenters!)

Welcome, repeat and new readers of Pagan Spirits alike! Today is the first day of the beautiful month of March, which always excites this Irish-American girl. This week, I'll be participating in the "Get 100 Blog Post Comments" event hosted by Blogelina.

The Pagan Spirits blogging schedule:

Are you a Pinterest pinhead? Stop by Pagan Spirits on Mondays for Blue Monday. I'll share some of the images from my "I've Got the Blues" board around a theme.

Are you an author? Would you like to share about a work in progress? Stop by Pagan Spirits on WIP Wednesday! I'd love to have some new WIP Wednesday guest authors, and you can read about what I'm writing.

Speaking of guest authors, on March 13th I'll be welcoming PM Terrell. She'll be talking about her book Vickie's Key and some real-life psychic warriors.

My guest on the 20th will be Diva Jefferson, with an excerpt from her historical romance novel, To Love an Irishman.

On March 24th, my guest author will be Julianne Snow, who writes zombie horror fiction.

Do you ever need a chance to dump your thoughts out onto the page? If so, you'll want to stop by Pagan Spirits on Sunday. I hook up with the blog hop hosted by AllThingsFadra for Stream of Consciousness Sunday. Fadra provides the prompt - all you have to do is free write for 5 minutes and link up.

This SOC Sunday post is about Whitney Houston's passing, and how tough it is to love somebody with a drug problem.

...and, in case you couldn't tell, I get excited about St. Patrick's Day!

But La Fhéile Pádraig is not the only celebration in March. We'll also be looking forward to the first day of spring. Thursday, March 8th is International Women's Day, and the entire month of March is Women's History Month!

Are there any Twilight fans in the house? (You probably guessed I was a Twilight fan by my Breaking Dawn Pt. 2 countdown widget.) Then you may be gearing up to celebrate St. Marcus Day on the 19th - don't forget to wear your red!

Have you ever wondered how much of St. Marcus Day was fact, and what was fiction? Read this post.

Slight change of plans - I had to post this a little early.

I'm a book blogger too but I think we read very different things.

It's nice to see how many authors you have visiting.

I'm not into Pinterest and probably the only blogger by now...

Erin O'Riordan said...

Hey, my first Blogelina comment - yay!

I read all kinds of books, but my favorite ones are usually romance novels of some type - or young adult books.

Not too much YA, though, because I notice a lot of YA book blogs all look the same. You see the same 7 or 8 covers over and over again...boring! I have quirkier tastes than some other book bloggers.

Starlene said...

I really enjoy spending time at Pinterest. I'm not an author of a book, but I do write for my blog and I hope to one day put together an e-book. You have a lot of great guests lined up this month! What is your technique for getting in touch with them?

Erin O'Riordan said...

Well, Starlene, one way you can get in touch with potential guest bloggers is http://www.bloggerlinkup.com/. The rest is just social networking and commenting on other book blogs.

Victoria M said...

You have an interesting list of books I need to pick up a few new books myself. I have never even looked at Pinterest I guess I need to check it out. Easy2Save

Erin O'Riordan said...

Pinterest is fun, if you like photos. It can easily become a waste of time, though, so you have to use it sparingly. Supposedly, according to Social Media Examiner, there are ways you can market with it, but I just use it because I love pretty pictures.

I do love pintrest, and I am a book blogger, but I think we have different interests. :)

Erin O'Riordan said...

Yes, I think so. There are an awful lot of books in the world, and it takes various kinds of people to read them all.

Katie said...

Wow you've got a lot going on here, I'll have to be sure to keep coming back. I just started with Pinterest, I'll have to take some time this weekend to see how it all works!

Erin O'Riordan said...

Thanks so much for stopping by, Katie!

Eschelle said...

sweet deal happy to have found you!!

Erin O'Riordan said...

Thanks, Eschelle. I like your blog, too.

My Little Bit of Life said...

I'm really sorry, but I'm not really sure what to say. I'm into all things "Mom" right now. :)

Samantha said...

hi erin! coming over from blogelina! your blog is great and am glad to have found it! :-)

Erin O'Riordan said...

That's okay, "Little Bit." I'm having a tough time coming up with sensible comments on all the Mommy Blogs at this event. Y'all ask questions like, "Do you use cotton or disposable diapers?" and "Do your kids play sports?" and I'm like, "Uh, I don't have kids. My cat doesn't wear diapers or play sports - unless mousing is a sport." But that's okay; it's still interesting to see what other people are writing about.

Thanks, Samantha!

Corinne Rodrigues said...

You seem to have a great line up there. I too have started to open my blog to more guest posts and have a monthly schedule of them, but haven't thought of announcing it like you did! Great idea.

Katy said...

I found all your upcoming guests interesting! How do you line that up? (probably, duh, just ask!)

Erin O'Riordan said...

Thank you, Corinne. I do have some interesting guest posts this month. Today I posted one about Lady Gaga.

Hi, Katy. Well, in this case, two of them came to me with the idea (one personally and one through a blog tour promoter), and I met PM Terrell and approached her about a guest post through Facebook.

LouLou said...

Wow you've got a lot going on. This is my first week of blogging, I think I can learn a lot from you!

Erin O'Riordan said...

Really? Your blog looks like it's already well-established. I'll be glad if I can help, though.

Julie said...

Hi Erin. I'm not much of a reader these days. Used to many years ago. These days I'm lucky to thumb a magazine. I'm here from blogelina but glad I found you.

Erin O'Riordan said...

Thanks, Julie. Nothing wrong with a good magazine every once in a while. My favorite one is BUST - women's magazine that doesn't suck.

Katie said...

You got a Twilight fan in the house! :) I've even got my husband and brother into the Twilight movies.

Erin O'Riordan said...

Me too, Katie! I can't get my hubby to read the books, but I got him hooked on the movies.

Glenda said...

How are you? I too do book reviews and author interviews on my blog how would you like to come by and do a guest post one day?

Erin O'Riordan said...

Glenda, I'm sure I would like that very much. Thanks for the invitation!

Nikki said...

I am definitely into Pinterest, and I'm following you on there now. It seems like your reading habits are similar to mine, so I look forward to seeing what you have coming up!

Erin O'Riordan said...

Thank you, Nikki. I think I followed you back on Pinterest.

brett said...

happy march, erin !! i like pinterest, but not for blogging. that's probably weird- but i like it for recipes and kid party stuff and HAIR ideas. its kind of my escape right now!!

Erin O'Riordan said...

It's great for that, Brett. Thanks for stopping by!

The Cookinglady said...

Very interesting.

Erin O'Riordan said...

Cookinglady, if there was an award for the shortest comment, you would win it!

Amanda said...

Well now I'm disgusted. *pout* I didn't realize that it would be so long before BDpt2 came out. I'm not a Twihard (obviously, or I'd have already known that), but I have read the books, and seen all the movies to date. I don't *want* to wait to see the last one. *sigh*
Like Judith (leeswammes) I'm not on Pinterest. Apparently we're the last two bloggers on the planet who are not. :-)

Erin O'Riordan said...

Ha! Sorry, Amanda, I didn't mean to disappoint you with the long wait for the next Twilight movie. Maybe the Hunger Games movie will hold you over in the meantime.

Jamie O. said...

Another refreshing blog. Good to see! I appreciate how honest you are, ecspecially with a few of the comments!! I love St. Patricks day too! Enjoy yours.

Stephanie @ One Sleepy Mom said...

Haha when I first clicked, I got a blogger warning that this content might not be suitable, and then the name being "Pagan Spirits", I was a little afraid to continue. But I'm glad I did. I'm not really into the same type of books as you, but I was checking out some of your other posts and I like your writing style.

Jeanette said...

I'm happy to find your blog! Sounds like you've got a lot of fun stuff going on, and I'll definitely have to come by again! <3

Erin O'Riordan said...

Thank you, Jamie and Stephanie! I can only be myself. This is my self.

I hope you do, Jeanette!

Kerry Fountain said...

I have to say that I am intrigued by your blog! I plan on returning when I have a bit more time to browse around....It looks like we have similar interests and likes.

Sorry-- I am in such a hurry-- we have officially run out of toilet paper in the house....how does this happen?!

Erin O'Riordan said...

OMG, Kerry, that is a real emergency!

Daily Citron said...

I am impressed that you are writing books- it seems like such a faraway goal to me, and you are already there. Thanks for inspiring me!

Eleni Poulakou said...

Hello Erin,

Nice meeting you through Blogelina's event.
I'm not really a fan of the Twilight series, but everyone to her own tastes, right?

I notice you have some interesting resources for writers -- I guess I'll just stick around a bit, perhaps we have more in common than a blog comment tour... :)

Erin O'Riordan said...

I hope so, Eleni. My blog is really quite eclectic around the general theme of my writing life.

Kecia said...

I am addicted to Pinterest. I like to create blog posts from the different recipes and other things I find on there! And I consider myself a Twilight fan...but I'm a horrible one, since I haven't seen the first part of Breaking Dawn yet...

Erin O'Riordan said...

Well, it's out on DVD now, Kecia, so you can easily catch up!

Millie said...

I am totally new to pinterest. My daughter loves it and sent me an invite. I really *try* to enjoy it and do my boards but... I do get a ton of traffic to my blog from Pinterest which is great.

You certainly do seem busy!

Shelly said...

Wow you have a lot of guest posts. I am so new to blogging that I have not even started with guest posting maybe I will give it a try.

Erin O'Riordan said...

Well, Millie, the blog is still evolving. I try to keep it interesting.

Shelly, you should try it. You can use BloggerLinkUp.com to request or offer guest posts.

Clarinda said...

I love reading but prob read a LOT different from you.

Erin O'Riordan said...

I imagine so, Clarinda. Different strokes for different folks.

Britni @ Our Eventual Homestead said...

I am really looking forward to BDpt2, will be dragging hubby to see it with me! I can't believe the series is coming to an end :(

Deedra Hickman said...

I just love Pinterest...gonna go there now.

Erin O'Riordan said...

I know, Britni - it'll be Harry Potter all over again. I saw Deathly Hallows 2 in the theater twice and cried both times. (Hey, that Snape scene is mega-sad.)

Pinterest is very addicting, Deedra. I just used it again in the Disney dudes post I published a few minutes ago.

Erin @ My Mommy World said...

Good luck to you on your writing! Sounds very interesting :)

Erin O'Riordan said...

Thanks, Erin!

Yannie said...

I never tried pininterest. But i guess I'll give it a try since almost all bloggers are using it.

Marian said...

I'm a big fan of twilight too... :-D

krystle said...

Your blog is very inspiring to a newbie blogger like myself. I hope to have as much going on as you on my blog one day. PS: I like Twilight too :)

Erin O'Riordan said...

Yannie, it's not for everyone, but you may like it.

Glad to hear it, Marian!

keepitthimble.com said...

I've started checking out Pinterest, but haven't really figured it out yet.

Erin O'Riordan said...

Thank you, Krystle! I love how you spell your name.

Erin O'Riordan said...

Thimble, the key to Pinterest is just to pin what you like. If you like something, just bookmark it, and then you can always come back to it later.

Becca said...

Just discovered Pinterest. And discovered it can be addicting...

Erin O'Riordan said...

It can! At first, it's a really shiny new toy.

Robin said...

Sounds like you're having a great time! Happy St. Patrick's Day IN ADVANCE!!!!

Michelle said...

I'm just learning about Pinterest right now it just seems to be one more thing on my to-do list!

Erin O'Riordan said...

Thank you, Robin!

Michelle, it's important not to let yourself get overwhelmed. Thanks for stopping by!

Hi Erin! Thanks so much for having stopped by my blog and totally making me laugh with your dream! It's really nice that you write and do so much reading. I wish I still had a love for books, once they made it required in school, I think I lost interest in all books. I am slowly trying to get back into reading but lately, I can't seem to find time for anything. I read my bible in the mornings and a short chapter of a spiritual book but that's probably it. My friend gave me a Christian fiction novel and it's been collecting dust for 2 years! Sad I know but maybe I am just lacking the right book to get me to fall in love with reading again!

Pinterest, pinterest...maybe that's where all my "free" time is going! I am so addicted to pinterest and I totally get sucked in when I'm only supposed to "look for a recipe" but end up filling a whole board full of other randomness! Haven't figured out how to use it to benefit my blog yet but maybe I will need to do some Pinterest research to figure that out...more excuses to be on it! =P

It's nice meeting you by the way. Are you on the Blog Help Group or Newbie Blog Group on FB? If you are, we will be seeing more of each other!

Erin O'Riordan said...

Thanks, Suzy. I do have several different themes going on now - they all reflect my personality and my writing life.

Kangaroo Mama, I feel blessed that I've always had a love of reading, every since I was very small. I started reading when I was 4. Both parents and my grandparents used to read to me.

I don't belong to any blogger groups on FB, unless you count NetworkedBlogs.

Kelley @ Never a Dull Day in Poland said...

What a neat blog. While these aren't exactly my types of books (ok, I really don't read books) but some of them did catch my eye for my oldest daughter!

Anonymous said...

It seems like you really have a love for books. Thanks for sharing your insights into those you are reading.

Heather said...

I am sorry that I don't have anything interesting to add, but your blog is very intriguing. I am not an author, and more into a different genre of books than you are, but it was really nice to read your post and get to know a bit more about you!

Erin O'Riordan said...

Kelley, I can't imagine not wanting to read!

Anonymous, it's my pleasure!

Heather, thanks so much for coming by!

Angie Nelson said...

Not sure what St Marcus Day is, but I'm off to find out. Nice to meet you, Erin. ;)

Erin O'Riordan said...

Thank you, Angie. St. Marcus Day is a plot device in Stephenie Meyer's book 'New Moon.'

I think you have the right idea to have a plan for your blog like that. I have seen others have success. Several things to look through....going to check your blog out a bit more!

Erin O'Riordan said...

Thank you, P&LB - I hope you find something you like!

Carrie said...

I finally gave in and got on Pinterest. Mainly I made a book list at first but then I found quite a few recipes and projects I could actually do! I will follow you on Pinterest.

Erin O'Riordan said...

Thank you, Carrie. I'll follow you back - I love other people's book lists!

Layne said...

I would totally be interested in reviewing your books for my blog if you are interested :)

Wow, you've got a lot going on! I've never had any guest bloggers on my blog - will have to give that a try sometime.

SalemMomma said...

Wow, you're busy! I'm a fellow Pinterest nut, I can spend hours over there! lol Sadly, I'm just "meh" about Twilight (don't hit me!) I'm going to have to some back and peruse your blog more thoroughly, it seems like something I would really enjoy reading. Happy St. Pat's Day!

Erin O'Riordan said...

Hitting is not allowed on my blog, SalemMomma! We all have our favorite books, and we all have our not-so-favorites, and that's cool.

Dawn, you should try guest bloggers. Some of the highest-traffic posts on my blog have been written by guests.

Thank you, Changes!
